Male Bonding

In a world where lo-fi punk bands from the UK are oddly often not perceived as being quite as authentic as their American equivalents, it is refreshing to see London trio Male Bonding doing so well for themselves with their scrappy, noisy two minute nuggets.

After a number of exhilarating EPs and singles, early listens of the band’s debut album, Nothing Hurts, suggests that their signing to Sub Pop is far from unjustified. With some real, solidly heartfelt melodies just about touchable under the many dashes of scuzzy distortion, Male Bonding burst at you in a multi-sensory explosion.

Kevin Hendrick (Bass guitar/ vocals) and John Arthur Webb (Guitar/ vocals) spar playfully while Robin Silas Christian (drums) provides the fast paced tempo to their beautifully chaotic pieces distinctively lacking attention spans lasting longer than a couple of minutes.

Last year’s Offset performance saw the rammed tent end in fans and band as one, dancing together onstage and it’s this type of uncontrolled frivolity- barely held together and powered forward by pure adrenaline- that defines Male Bonding’s shows.
