Die! Die! Die!
Raw, rough, deranged but melodic and danceable with polite lyrics, Die! Die! Die! like to place the emphasis on rhythm, with drum kit battering sounds de rigeur for New Zealand’s pop-punk three-piece. Live, front man Andrew Wilson happily disperses himself around the entire venue, but Die! Die! Die!’s highly-contagious anthemic sounds make them a festival band through and through. With traces of Black Flag, The Pixies, the Wipers, Wire, and Bailterspace, their latest offering Promises, Promises (2008) - ‘stripped right down to the bare bones of art punk’ (NME) - was excitably received all over the show.
